About Pace
How do I know my rack battery has a Pace BMS?
The surest sign is that PbmsTools connects to it and shows the board reference, such as P16S100A. Otherwise, send us a photo of the front panel and the name of the battery: we tell you what we can before you pay.
Which socket does it use?
The RS485 RJ45 socket, usually next to CAN. Link sockets between packs stay as they are. The cable is supplied.
Can it read several packs?
Yes on firmware that reports the packs of a chain, with the address switches set correctly. Tell us the number of packs when you order; we test that case before shipping.
Do I still need PbmsTools?
To change settings, yes: the box only reads and never writes to the board. For daily checks, no.
Does it replace the inverter link?
No. The inverter keeps its CAN or RS485 link. The box only listens to the values of the board.
When does it ship?
On 10 November 2026. If we miss that date, you get a full refund unless you prefer to wait.
Can I cancel?
At any time before it ships, with a full refund including shipping.
Does it need internet?
No. The screen, the local dashboard, MQTT and JSON all work without internet.
How is it powered?
Over USB-C from any phone charger. It draws under half a watt.
Warranty?
Two years. And a 30-day full refund, return paid by us, if your board turns out not to be supported once delivered.
Is it made by Pace?
No. Pace Monitor (MoniWatt for Pace) is an independent product designed in France. Pace is a trademark of its owner, and so are the battery brands named on this site.
Installation, plug & play
Is it hard to install?
No, it is plug and play: plug the cable into the RS485 port of your Pace battery and USB-C into a phone charger, then join the box’s Wi-Fi from your phone to give it your home network. About a minute, without tools, app or setting changed on the battery. The box arrives prepared for your model.
Do I need to switch anything off?
Not at all: the RS485 socket carries data at low voltage. Plug in with the battery on; no cover to remove.
Do I need an app or an account?
No. Setup is done in your phone’s browser, through the box’s own Wi-Fi. The free Cloud account is optional, only to see your system from away.
Will it change my settings?
No. The box only reads: the limits, switches and settings of your battery stay exactly as they are.
What if my Wi-Fi changes?
Use the settings page of the box. And if it cannot find your network for a few minutes, the box brings back its setup Wi-Fi on its own.
Can my installer set it up for me?
Yes. They get their own Cloud access to follow your system, and yours stays as it is.
What it shows
Which Pace values does Pace Monitor read?
The values your Pace BMS shares on its RS485 port: SOC, voltage, current, power, cell by cell, temperatures, health, cycle count, status and alarms. The list varies with model and firmware; mention yours when ordering.
How often are the values refreshed?
On the screen and the local dashboard, every few seconds. On the free Cloud, which stores the history, roughly every 2 minutes.
Can Pace Monitor change a setting by mistake?
No. Its requests are read-only, so no setting, mode or limit of your equipment can be altered by it.
Can I see my values without an internet connection?
Not at home. Screen, local dashboard, Home Assistant and JSON API only use your local Wi-Fi. Internet comes into play for the free Cloud alone, which lets you check your system from elsewhere.
Can I export my data?
Of course. Download a CSV from the free Cloud (history kept 3 years), or read the live values yourself over MQTT or the local JSON API.
Home Assistant and smart home
Do I need HACS, ESPHome or a custom integration?
No. Home Assistant speaks MQTT out of the box, and the box declares its sensors itself through MQTT discovery. There is nothing to flash and no code to write.
I don’t have an MQTT broker yet. Is that a problem?
You install it in two minutes: Settings › Add-ons › Mosquitto broker › Install › Start. Home Assistant detects it and offers to set up MQTT with one click. You do this once, for this box and any MQTT device after it.
Do I need the internet or the Cloud for Home Assistant?
No. Everything stays on your home network: the box speaks directly to Home Assistant. The free Cloud is a separate option, for seeing your system from anywhere.
Can I use Home Assistant and the Cloud at the same time?
Yes. Screen, local dashboard, Home Assistant and Cloud all work together, and none of them changes anything on your battery.
Is the Cloud required for Home Assistant, Jeedom or Node-RED?
No. Each of them talks to the box on your own network, via MQTT or the local JSON API. You only need the Cloud to check your system when you are out, or to feed online services such as IFTTT.
Where do I find my access key?
On the box’s page, Settings › Access key & Cloud. You can generate a new one at any time; the old one then stops working.
How often can I read the values?
The box keeps the latest reading, refreshed every few seconds. Polling every 30 to 60 seconds is plenty; MQTT pushes each new reading without polling.
Can an integration change my settings?
No. The box only reads your equipment: no command sent through MQTT or the API can change a setting.
Is there a Tuya or SmartLife integration?
There is no direct link, but IFTTT, Make.com or Apilio can read the private JSON address of the free Cloud and start your Tuya or SmartLife scenes.
The free Cloud
Is the Cloud really free?
Free, for good. Buying the box gives you the live dashboard, three years of history, CSV export and e-mail alerts, with nothing to pay each month.
Do I need a password?
No. Signing in only takes your e-mail address, which receives a one-time link. Then the access key of the box attaches it to your account.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Only the Cloud pauses. The screen, the local dashboard and Home Assistant do not need the internet. When the connection returns the Cloud catches up, and a 6-hour silence from the box can trigger an e-mail.
Can someone else follow my system?
Yes. Your installer, or anyone you give the access key to, can link the box to their own account. You can change the key whenever you like.
How do I stop it and remove my data?
Switch the option off in the box settings: sending stops right away. Want the history gone too? Ask by e-mail and the stored readings are deleted.
Order, delivery, returns
I am not sure my rack has a Pace board. Can you check?
Yes. Send us the name of the battery and a photo of the front panel before ordering. A PbmsTools screenshot settles it if you have one.
Are the sockets between packs affected?
No. The link cables between packs and the inverter cable stay in place; the box takes the RS485 socket next to CAN.
When will I receive it?
Pre-ordered boxes leave on 10 November 2026. Count 2 to 10 days of transit depending on the country; the tracking link reaches your inbox on the day of dispatch.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
Until the box ships, cancelling is free and needs no explanation: a reply to the confirmation e-mail or the online form is enough, and the full amount comes back, shipping included.
What if my battery is not supported?
Send it back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund; the return postage is on us.
Is payment secure?
Stripe processes the payment: your card number never passes through our servers. Your bank may ask you to approve the payment.
Do I pay customs duties?
Not within the European Union. Elsewhere (United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, United States…), import duties and taxes may be charged by the carrier on delivery.
Compared with the other options
Is there an alternative to the Pace BMS app?
Yes. The Pace BMS app works over Bluetooth, next to the battery. Pace Monitor shows every cell on your Wi-Fi at home and, through the free Cloud, on any phone or PC anywhere in the world, with three years of history.
Can I monitor my Pace BMS from a PC without the Windows software?
Yes: open http://moniwatt.local in any browser on your network, or the free Cloud dashboard from anywhere. No USB adapter, no PC software to install.
Is there a Wi-Fi module for the Pace BMS?
Pace Monitor is one: it connects to the RS485 port of the BMS, has its own colour screen, and puts every cell, the balancing and the alarms on your Wi-Fi. Read-only, it never changes a setting.
How do I connect my Pace BMS to Home Assistant without ESP32?
Enter your MQTT broker in Pace Monitor: Home Assistant creates one sensor per cell, plus charge, power, temperatures, balancing and alarms. No soldering, no ESPHome, no YAML.
